Since 2017, the Village of Churchville has been actively participating in the NYS Clean Energy Communities (CEC) program. This initiative outlines key actions communities can undertake to decrease energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By implementing these actions, communities earn points toward various designation levels, which in turn unlock grant funding for further energy and cost-saving measures.
Recently, the Village has completed enough actions to achieve Level-1 status and has been awarded a $10,000 match-free grant. This grant will be utilized to install high-efficiency LED lighting and improve insulation in our DPW garage.
Participation in programs like the CEC and its sister program, the Climate Smart Communities (CSC), helps save our residents money by making village buildings and operations more efficient and cost-effective.
We are not stopping here. We are on the verge of achieving CEC Level-2 and CSC Bronze certifications and expect to reach these milestones this year, which will unlock additional funding for further cost savings.
