Notice of Proposed Electric Rate Adjustment

Jul 31, 2023 | Events, News

Dear Churchville Municipal Electric Customer,

The Village of Churchville takes great pride in its commitment to delivering secure, dependable, and cost-effective electricity services to both the residents and businesses within our community.  In recent years, the escalating expenses associated with fuel, resources, and maintenance required to ensure a reliable electricity supply have increase significantly, and are impacting our ability to maintain our system.

This communication serves to inform you that the Village of Churchville has applied for an electric rate adjustment to the New York State Public Service Commission (NYS PSC).  The process of seeking an electric rate adjustment is lengthy and entails a comprehensive examination by multiple NYS PSC personnel.  Following their evaluation, the NYS PSC can opt to endorse the application as is, reject it, or implement medications.  It is noteworthy that the last revision to the electric rates occurred 12 years ago in 2011.

Presently, the Village of Churchville is still awaiting the final determination from the NYS PSC.  It is our expectation that the revised rates will come into effect on October 1, 2023.  Rest assured, once the NYS PSC concludes its review, we will promptly communicate the new rates to our valued customers.

The decision to adjust rates is a necessary measure we must undertake to invest in our infrastructure, thereby enabling us to effectively address the energy requirements of our customers.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Village Office at 585-293-3720.  Your understanding and support are highly appreciated as we work towards sustaining the quality of service that defines the Village of Churchville.

Sincerely,
John Hartman
Mayor
