Cemetery

CHURCHVILLE’S CREEKSIDE CEMETERY has no mortuary chapel, but provides year-round interment, weather permitting.  It does not provide setups for funerals. Families of the deceased should ask their funeral directors about setups (cocoa matting, tents, chairs, etc.).

The Department of Public Works has provided strategically located water faucets for watering urns. Roadways are kept in good repair and clear of winter snows. All plot openings and memorial marker foundations are done by the Village Department of Public Works.

Cemetery Tree Inventory

Cemetery hours are sunrise to sunset.

There will be only one (1) adult interment to each space. There may be two (2) infants to one adult space or six (6) cremations to one adult space.  One cremation is allowed over an existing interment. (Please see the Cremations section for additional burial information.)  All plot openings are done by the Village Department of Public Works.

All lots or spaces will be used for human remains only.  Sections of body interments will be charged as infant interments.

Any unused lot or space made available to the Village by lessee will be purchased back from the lessee at the original selling price. It is the responsibility of any heir to a plot to notify the Village Office of the transfer so that proper recording can be made.

The Village will accept no responsibility for errors that might inadvertently occur in connection with telephone orders.

Use of facilities and services are subject to the rules and regulations of the cemetery now in force or that may hereafter be adopted.

Plot Decorations

There will be NO planting of trees, shrubs, or flowers in the ground by the lessee of the cemetery plot.  Glass containers and tin cans will not be allowed to remain on gravesites for cut flowers or watering purposes.  No benches shall be allowed unless within footprint of a headstone, provided by a monument company.

Pots and urns must be removed from the gravesite by October 15th of each year. Christmas wreaths and other such decorations must be removed by March 15th of each year. All pots and urns are to be placed at the side of the memorial marker and not in front or rear for ease of mowing.

Plot lessees and visitors are requested to assist the cemetery in maintaining the beauty of the lawns by refraining from placing on plots numerous obstacles (benches, multiple pots/urns, etc)  that hinder proper lawn mowing, thereby increasing the cost of maintenance.

    Cremations

Location (Row 30, Sections A, B, C) – this section of the cemetery has been set aside for cremation only plots. Each plot is 42″ by 4 ½’ and allows three (3) burials of ashes (or 2 if in an urn vault) per plot.

    Headstones

One headstone is permitted per plot; cannot exceed the width of the plot (42”); upright or flat.  The Village Department of Public Works provides the foundation, for a fee, per the specifications of the monument company for all headstones in Creekside Cemetery and St Vincent dePaul’s Cemetery.  Foundations are required for all headstones, regardless of size, shape or weight.

    Facilities and Equipment

Weather permitting, year-round interment is provided by the Department of Public Works.  There are no set up provisions available (tents, chairs, etc) for funerals; please coordinate with funeral home.  The Department of Public Works has provided strategically located water faucets for watering urns.
